About Us

Big Brothers Big Sisters helps children realize their potential and build their futures. We nurture children and strengthen communities.

Changing perspectives. Changing lives.

For more than 50 years, Big Brothers Big Sisters of the Big Bend has operated under the belief that inherent in every child is the ability to succeed and thrive in life. As the nation’s largest donor and volunteer supported mentoring network, Big Brothers Big Sisters makes meaningful, monitored matches between adult volunteers ("Bigs") and children ("Littles"), ages 5 through 18, in communities across the big bend region (Franklin, Gadsden, Jefferson, Leon, Liberty, Madison, Taylor, Wakulla).  We develop positive relationships that have a direct and lasting effect on the lives of young people.

Mission

Create and support one-to-one mentoring relationships that ignite the power and promise of youth.

Vision

All youth achieve their full potential.

Justice, Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion

Big Brothers Big Sisters of the Big Bend is committed to creating and cultivating a safe environment where all individuals feel respected and valued equally.  We are committed to a nondiscriminatory and anti-racist approach and are committed to dismantling any inequities within our policies, systems, programs, and services.

Accountability

By partnering with parents/guardians, volunteers, and others in the community we are accountable for each child in our program achieving:

• Higher aspirations, greater confidence, and better relationships

• Avoidance of risky behaviors

• Educational success
